About Me


Name
Abby is just my nickname. My real name, Valerie, obviously has nothing to do with it. My mom came up with the nick after realizing that there were a lot of other babies who had Baby as their nick. Her wit got the best of her, so she decided to interchange the first two letters. And voila! My pet name was invented.

Valerie, on the other hand, is very much related to my birthday. I was born on the 14th of February in the year 1992. I was the first Valentine baby in the hospital where my Mom gave birth, which makes me one of the elderly Valentina/os. All those born after 2:24 AM are but copycats. LOL






Real Life Miracles
Unlike other babies, I didn’t cry at birth. I was too lazy to do so. :3 I had congenital heart disease, that’s why I was too shy to cry. It took a few more minutes before I finally let out a cry of life. While the nurses were trying to stimulate my respiration, my Mom was silently praying for my survival. God definitely heard her, since I’m alive right now. That was the first miracle of my life.

Since I already mentioned the first, I think I should share the second too. A few days after my birth, the doctor informed my Mom that I had a hole in one of my valves. (I wasn’t sure if it was an artery or a vein) Surgery was required to fix it. We were never well off, so my Mom didn’t know what to do. We sought for second opinion, and received the same finding. We had no other choice but to fly to Manila and undergo surgery. Prior to departure, my Mom solicited prayers for my healing. God heard her prayers once again for upon check up before I was scheduled to surgery, the doctors found nothing wrong with my heart. Up to this day, my heart’s perfectly fine. (Except for a few, rare palpitations) The second miracle.


Childhood
I grew up without a father. My parents got separated when I was five. But I wasn’t that affected though. My Mom did a pretty good job filling in for both roles. My brother’s eight years older than me, so I really didn’t miss a father figure as I was growing up.













Education
I enrolled at Lagao Alliance School at four. I was Nursery then. At five, I transferred to Notre Dame of Lagao. I skipped a year, and went straight to Kinder II. I spent almost my entire student life at NDL. Too bad it doesn’t exist anymore; since it merged with Notre Dame of General Santos City. They were both run by the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena. My next, and current school is Notre Dame of Dadiangas University where I took up BS Nursing for three years, and shifted to Psychology at the second semester of the third year. I know it sounds crazy to do that since I’m already halfway, but I just didn’t want to continue it. Also, the funds were running very low, and Nursing is a very expensive course. At present, I am taking up AB Psychology in the same institution.




As a writer
I’ve been a writer since I was in grade four. So I was about nine then. I didn’t know that what I was doing was a talent; I just knew I loved doing it. My teachers saw my potential and they took time to teach me the basics. Up to this day, I’m still grateful for their effort in making me develop this skill.







Random Facts
  • I know how to play the guitar. I wish I knew how to play the piano.
  • I am terrible at drawing.
  • I think I can dance. A bit.
  •  My singing voice’s only for the shower.
  • I am a terrible public speaker. My hands get all cold and sweaty when attention’s on me. Only recently have I realized that I have stage fright.


Favorites



  • I am a fan of SHINee, Girls Generation (SNSD), f(x) and Kpop in general. In fact, I am trying to learn their language so I wouldn’t need subtitles when watching their shows and movies.










I am a fan of the Philippine Basketball Association and the Brgy. Ginebra Kings. There are a few favorites from other teams namely Chris Tiu, Paul Artadi.








    I am a fan of WongFu Productions. I admire their quality work and their personalities. I dream that someday I can be like them, doing wholesome and inspiring films for setting a good example for the younger generations and just for the love of it.










    In a nutshell
    I am childish, I think deep. I babble, I sulk. I snob, I smile. I am the point where opposites meet.
